The South Plains Public Health District was established in 1941 with the purpose of addressing the public health needs of our participating counties in Texas. The Health District is funded by participating cities, counties, as well as federal and state grants. Gaines, Yoakum, Terry, and Dawson Counties are the counties that make up the South Plains Public Health District.
It is the mission of the South Plains Public Health District, a non-profit governmental agency working in partnership with the city and county governments of Gaines, Terry, Dawson and Yoakum to provide education and response services to the community to promote the health and preparedness of our citizens, prevent illness, and protect the environment.
