River Smith’s Chicken and Catfish is a Lubbock icon serving hungry folks for over 40 years through their one of a kind restaurant and catering divisions. In 1976 Bob Corcorran had a rough spell in his flooring business and started a small restaurant to supplement his income. He served catfish and chicken from his secret family recipe – and it was a hit. Today, Bob’s son Paul is running the show with business partner Chris Berry and a team of cooks, servers, and other help.
Paul and Chris inquired of Your Web Pro LLC to replace their old website with something that not only looked great, but was friendly to the way people use the Internet today. We had been working with River Smiths on a number of website related things for several years taking their existing website through a number of changes. When it was time for a new website, we really wanted to bring the unique feel of River Smith’s to your screen. To accomplish that we used a number of textures and graphics from the flowing river in the background to the hardwood in the header. We also knew the main thing people looked for was the menu so making that accessible was paramount.
During the process of developing the new site, a photographer was brought in to take pictures of a number of the delicious entrees served at River Smiths. Those pictures needed a spotlight to make your mouth water when you visited the website. Go ahead and try it… see if you can browse their site without getting hungry.
This is a mobile responsive, custom designed website built on a static code base for long-term, security focused operation. Static websites can be harder to update because you need to work in the code to make changes, but they gain a longer operational life and a more stable function than website built on popular content management systems.
